Grant created to help Ontario wineries and cideries suffering due to pandemic.
The Ontario government has invested $10 million into a new initiative to help wineries and cideries impacted by the pandemic.
The province has launched the new Winery Agri-Tourism COVID-19 Relief Initiative.
Businesses that saw a revenue decline in at least one area, including decreased tours, tourism, events and tastings, or have faced higher expenses to comply with public health safety measures, will be eligible to receive funds.
Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs Lisa Thompson says this will be a big help to businesses in the sector.
"Ontario’s wineries and cideries have told us their businesses are being hit hard by the economic impacts of this pandemic and the cancellation of large events and tours. With this announcement, our government is taking the necessary steps to provide these businesses with the support they need to continue operating, recover and to maintain these good jobs in the agri-food sector."
Tomorrow, Agricorp will send applications to eligible businesses.
