The Niagara Region might have to dish out more money for waste management.
Officials say the new waste collection contracts could go up about 10 percent over the next three years.
The Region recently hired GFL Environmental Inc. and Miller Waste Systems Inc. for waste pickup.
Miller Waste will be in charge of Niagara Falls, Fort Erie, St. Catharines, Port Colborne, Welland and Niagara-on-the-Lake.
GFL Environmental will take care of Pelham, Thorold, Wainfleet, Grimsby, Lincoln and West Lincoln.
They both start in October 2020, the same time every-other-week garbage collection also kicks in.
Recycling and organics will still be collected weekly.
