Women across Niagara are encouraged to use a new online booking site at Niagara Health for breast cancer screening.
Regional Manager of Diagnostics Daisy Trojanowski tells us it helps if you get busy during the day and don't call the hospital.
They started it earlier this month. "Within the first 3 days of the launch in October, all of our spots that we had available for the month of October, have been utilized already. So, we're actually opening some spots for people to book online, to make it easier for them, and so far we can say it's been a great success."
October has been Breast Cancer Awareness month.
She adds people get busy during the day, and fail to call for a screening. "And often our staff here are very busy, they answer all the phones that they can, they take the messages and call back the next day. But, again, it's calling back during work hours, so whether or not you can answer that call to make an appointment is one thing."
She encourages early detection, giving better chances of beating cancer.
