Council wants to know of progress at old GM plant
Plenty of frustration for St. Catharines city council and those wanting to hear about cleanup efforts at the old General Motors plant.
The Standard is reporting a meeting was scheduled at council last night with Ministry of the Environment, to go over results of water from the former Ontario Street site, but that was cancelled at the last minute.
No reason was given to local officials for why.
Mayor Walter Sendzick expressed his concern, adding they have no way of knowing how the cleanup is going, after PCB's were found leaking into city sewers in late 2020.
Any information is given to the province, and not shared with the city.
