Emergency Instructors could fill in at Niagara Catholic Elementary Schools.
A policy set by the Niagara Catholic District School Board describes an emergency instructor as a person who is not a certified teacher, is 18 years of age or older, has an Ontario secondary school diploma and is appointed on a daily basis to a maximum of ten school days.
The letter explains that the board is committed to having qualified teachers at all times however it may not be possible at some times.
It details that emergency instructors are selected with careful consideration and are subject to a criminal background check.
It will be the Principal's decision to use them.
