Ontario Provincial Police say the total value of drugs and guns exceeds $8-million
A massive drug and gun bust by provincial police has netted over $8-million, covering a wide area of southern Ontario.
Police say Project Moffatt began in April, looking into three crime groups that were trafficking illicit drugs and illegal guns in the Toronto area, but also central and Northeastern Ontario.
Using 14 search warrants last month, police raided locations in North Bay, as well as Toronto, Brampton, Mississauga, Oakville, Pickering.
They also searched Maplehurst Correctional Complex and Collins Bay Federal Institution, where one person arrested was a Parolee violating his terms.
Police say 23 people ranging in age from 19 to 62, have been arrested, and the value of guns and drugs is over $8-million.
Roughly $290,000 in Canadian and American money was found, as well as 10 vehicles, with property seized about $790,000.
