Starting tomorrow double vaxed U.S. citizens can visit Canada without having to quarantine
After more than 36 hours of talks, Canada's border officers reached a tentative deal with the federal government late Friday ending an abbreviated work to rule campaign.
And it comes just in time for the reopening of the border to American visitors.
Starting tomorrow, American citizens and permanent residents will no longer have to quarantine when they arrive providing they can prove they have been fully vaccinated for at least 14 days.
Children under 12, travelling with fully vaccinated parents or guardians will also be exempt from the quarantine requirement.
However all travellers over the age of 5, regardless of vaccine status, will still be required to show proof of a negative COVID-19 test prior to entering Canada.
But as of tomorrow doubled dosed travellers will be exempt from taking another COVID-19 test when they arrive at the border, unless they have been randomly selected to do so.
The federal government is also eliminating quarantine hotels beginning tomorrow.
Travellers must use the ArriveCan app or website to enter Canada.
