City of St. Catharines says Team Rubicon volunteers are assessing damage
Federal and provincial volunteers arriving yesterday to help with flood cleanup efforts in St. Catharines and surrounding areas.
The City of St. Catharines tells us Team Rubicon, a partner of Ontario Corps, is removing garbage, flooring, drywall and other damaged areas.
Mayor Mat Siscoe saying he cannot thank the volunteers enough, known as Greyshirts.
He adds the DSBN offered a local property as home base for the volunteers.
The city adds there is a process to have Team Rubicon at your house, which begins with an assessment, a signed agreement, and scheduling a work day.
Team Rubicon is an international non-profit disaster response group, using military veterans, first responders and volunteers.
They join city, Niagara region, the province, and other volunteer groups already working.
The city also warns to be wary of scams and unlicenced contractors.
