Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for Niagara.
The agency warns that around 1:10 this afternoon, weather radar indicated an isolated thunderstorm near Chippawa, with a potential of becoming severe.
The thunderstorm is slowly moving east at about 20 km/hr.
Environment Canada warns that winds up to 70 km/hr may occur, as well as local heavy downpours and hail about 1-2 cm in size.
The region also remains under a heat warning, with today's high expected to hit 40 degrees.
A cold front is on the way tonight, and it's expected to bring showers and thunderstorms.
