One Driver Arrested Following R.I.D.E. Spotchecks in Niagara

Police stop about 600 vehicles in St. Catharines and Lincoln this weekend as part of R.I.D.E checkpoints.

One person is facing impaired driving charges following a pair of R.I.D.E. spotchecks held in Niagara this weekend.

On Saturday, checkpoints were conducted in Lincoln and St. Catharines, with about 600 cars stopped.

Ten drivers were asked to take a breathalyzer test.

One person failed, and was arrested.

Their vehicle was towed for seven days, and their license was suspended for 90 days.

Another driver had their license suspended for three days after registering an "Alert" on the roadside screening device.

As well, six tickets were issued for various traffic infractions.
