"Weather Aware & Prepared" program will educate kids about severe weather such as ice storms, heavy snow and tornadoes
Niagara is one of the winners of a grant to help teach kids about severe weather like ice storms and tornadoes.
Niagara Region Emergency Management is one of four recipients of the ImpactWx Genesis Grants for the "Weather Aware & Prepared" initiative.
The grant will allow for the development of a program to teach kids about severe weather like ice storms, heavy snow, damaging winds, tornadoes and large hail.
The "Weather Aware & Prepared" program, which will be delivered at Niagara Safety Village in Vineland, will educate children on how to stay safe when severe weather occurs.
A special branch of Niagara Region Emergency Management’s Community Emergency Response Team will be created and trained to deliver the program.
Last week, Niagara Region Emergency Management announced it's looking for 100 new volunteers to join the team.
Applications will be accepted here until March 24th.
