Dr. Mustafa Hirji says we need to find a balance if we want to stop the spread of COVID-19 and keep businesses open.
Niagara's Acting Medical Officer of Health says restaurants in the Region will start asking patrons if they're dining with someone they live with and if they're experiencing symptoms of COVID-19.
This will also apply to bars, wineries and breweries.
The Region has reported 13 COVID-19 related deaths since the start of October.
We also had 63 new cases this past Tuesday, which is our highest single-day increase since the pandemic began in March.
Dr. Hirji says we were able to get the pandemic under control earlier this year by staying home but the lockdown also came at a social and economic cost.
