A pair of local athletes are competing at the Tokyo Paralympic Games.
Today is the first day of the Tokyo Paralympic Games.
The opening ceremonies kicked off this morning at 7: 00 a.m. our time, with judo star Priscilla Gagne bearing the flag for Canada.
The games will take place until September 5th, with 128 Canadian athletes competing for medals.
Locally, there are two competitors who hail from Niagara.
Para-rower Laura Court, who helped the women's eight crew snag consecutive gold medals at the World Rowing Under 23 Championships in 2017 and 2018, is from St. Catharines.
As well, Shelley Gautier of Niagara Falls will be competing in para-cycling.
In 2016, she won a bronze medal at the Rio Games
