Grimsby's Mayor Jeff Jordan says the new hospital planned for Niagara West will have to be bigger than before.
The Standard reports the West Lincoln Memorial Hospital currently serves over 100,000 residents.
Jordan says as a result of working with the province and West MPP Sam Oosterhoff he's expecting the new facility will have more than the 60 beds it currently has.
He says that although it's exciting the planning is moving on to step two it's only the first hurdle.
Jordan is hoping it will move on to stage three as fast as possible but they'll need to work diligently to make it happen.
