A Fort Erie woman hopes to become mayor on Monday, saying there's a very important partnership between government and people.
Juan Liu is very concerned about the economy, adding the role of government must be refined. "The government's main responsibility is leading the people to develop the economy, otherwise, why have a government? The government has wasted so much money, and then we can't do anything."
She's says eliminating waste leads to a stronger economy. "You must first make sure that people can earn money. If you do not lead the people to earn money, why should they have to hand over so much money to your government?"
She says she and her team have a scientific approach to government that has worked in other parts of the world. "The relationship between the government and people, the government and the people have a principle/agent relationship. Everyone understands the nature of this legal relationship, once you understand it, it can become easy to restore it."
"First, the mayor should be fair in character. 2nd, the mayor should have scientific ability, and third, the mayor should be healthy."
Fort Erie's town website shows she's going for mayor against Wayne Redekop, Tom Insinna, and Mike Campbell. We have reached out to all candidates.
