The Government has amended Regulation 719 under the Liquor Licence Act (LLA).
To support local businesses and licensed restaurants, the sale of alcohol will be allowed for take-out and delivery orders.
The amendment comes into effect immediately and lasts until December 31, 2020.
Sam Oosterhoff, MPP for Niagara West says this will help local wineries and craft breweries and distilleries.
"We have listened to local businesses and restaurants, and especially concerned stakeholders in Niagara's critical grape and wine industry, by allowing takeout wine, beer and spirit sales.”
Any business with a liquor sales license can begin sales in this fashion immediately and do not need to seek permission or apply to the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario. The necessary conditions to consume alcohol that apply to in-house sales will still apply to takeout/delivery, including checking ID and Smart Serve training certification.
