A vigil will be held next week at Niagara Regional headquarters
There's going to be a vigil next week outside Niagara regional headquarters for people who've died in the cold.
The Niagara Advocates with Lived/Living Experience, or NALE, is holding the Vigil for Those We've Lost to the Cold at 5:45 next Thursday afternoon.
The group says January 26th is the first anniversary of the death of Bob Allen, who died on James Street in St. Catharines, after being turned away from a shelter.
The night of the vigil is also when regional council considers supporting Councillor Haley Bateman's motion to raise the threshold for opening emergency shelters from the current -15 to 0.
NALE adds Bob Allen died when it was -8, and other people have died because of the region's failed policies.
