The Chair reviewed the budget again, could be cutting over $3-million
Niagara taxpayers potentially getting a bit more relief on the 2026 budget.
Regional Chair Bob Gale, after taking another look at the proposed budget, along with help from regional staff, says there's over $3-million in further potential savings.
Councillor Sandra Easton, backed by council, asked him to do this, he directed staff to look at everything except healthcare, long-term care, or any essential or social services.
Currently, the budget goes up almost 7% from last year, or another $225/household.
Bob Gale says he's heard clearly from Niagara taxpayers they're feeling financial pressure, and want increases as low as possible, and he's taking that seriously.
