Niagara residents cheering this morning as Mohammed Ahmed from St. Catharines is bringing home silver from Tokyo.
St. Catharines' Mohammed Ahmed is a silver medalist following an inspired effort in the men's 5,000 metres at the Tokyo Olympics.
It's Canada's first Olympic medal in the men's 5,000.
The 30 year old won bronze in the 5,000 at the 2019 world championships in Qatar.
Ahmed opened this year's Olympics with a sixth place in the 10,000 metres.
