Sidney Poiter, who was the first Black actor to snag a best actor Oscar, has died at the age of 94.
The news was announced by an official from the Bahamian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Poitier won the Oscar for his role in "Lilies of the Field", and was also known for his work in movies such as "Guess Who's Coming to Dinner", "The Defiant Ones", and "In the Heat of the Night."
