Mayor Bill Steele says it'll go from Highway 140, addressing safety concerns
Plans are in the works by the City of Port Colborne to build a road from Highway 140, off Progress Drive, to a developing industrial park.
Mayor Bill Steele says this will make travel much safer, for the area west of the 140, from 2nd Concession to 3rd Concession, or near the MTO maintenance yard.
"Within that corridor, it's called an Employment Zone... it's industrial zone, so that's where we're building a new commercial/industrial park, for businesses to move into," he says.
The mayor adds this should move fairly quickly since the city owns the land the road is to be built on.
It'll address a safety issue where there's a hill and curve. "Going further north on a nice stretch... safe stretch, flat stretch, right on MTO land, crossing that land, crossing our rail line, and then entering our property that's on the west of our rail line."
