Snowplow driver’s are applauding changes to the province’s Occupiers Liability Act.
The change, which passed this week, means if you fall on ice on private property and hurt yourself, you only have 60 days to make an insurance claim.
If you fall and hurt yourself on municipal property you only have 10 days to serve the city or town with written notice.
The change is good news for snowplow drivers who have been hit with skyrocketing insurance rates because of injury claims.
One Oshawa contractor, who has a staff of 20 and plows commercial properties and school parking lots, tells CTV his insurance premiums jumped from $16,000 to $60,000 last year for the same coverage.
