The Conservative Leader will represent the rural Alberta riding of Battle River-Crowfoot.
ALBERTA - Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre is heading back to the House of Commons.
He won the byelection in the rural Alberta riding of Battle River-Crowfoot last night. He lead with about 80 percent of the vote as the results came in throughout the night.
Former Conservative MP Damien Kurek resigned from the seat shortly after the federal election in the spring. Poilievre lost his long held seat in the Ottawa-area riding of Carleton in the federal election, so Kurek decided to step down so Poilievre could have another shot at securing a seat in the House of Commons.
Poilievre thanked Kurek for his "gracious sacrifice" and also said getting to know the people of his new riding has been the privilege of his life.
