Grim numbers coming from Canada Public Health.
The agency says the COVID-19 pandemic was responsible for an increasingly deadly overdose crisis last year.
The eye opening new numbers indicate just over six-thousand people suffered opioid-related deaths in 2020 around 17 deaths per day on average.
There were fewer than four thousand in 2019.
