The number one ticket handed this long holiday weekend by provincial police, and it wasn't even close by a long shot.... speeding.
OPP focused on impaired driving, inattentive driving, speeding and improper use of, or failure, to use seatbelts.
They say between Friday and yesterday, over 9,800 tickets were given, of those 4,924 were for speeding.
That was followed by seatbelt infractions at 506 tickets, 174 for impaired driving, and 108 for distracted driving.
Police say this was part of Operation Impact, an annual national campaign by the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police to improve road safety.
