National average ticked up to 6.2 per cent, Niagara sits at 7.9 per cent
Canada’s unemployment rate rose in May despite a gain of 27,000 jobs.
Stats Canada says the country's unemployment rate now stands at 6.2 per cent, up from 6.1 per cent the month before.
Most of the gains in were in part time work.
Gains in health care and social assistance, finance and real estate as well as food and accommodation were offset by losses in construction, transportation and warehousing and utilities last month.
Niagara's jobless rate remains steady at 7.9 per cent.
