Almost $44-million to maintain drinking water and wastewater services
A huge provincial investment into the Niagara region to make sure drinking water, wastewater and stormwater services remain intact.
Acting Minister of Infrastructure Todd McCarthy was joined by local MPP Sam Oosterhoff in Thorold today, announcing almost $44-million.
The money is part of a $4-billion plan to modernize aging water systems, including in Niagara.
The government says the Niagara Region receives $24.5-million to upgrade the Niagara Falls wastewater treatment plant, Welland will take $10.7-million for Broadway Area Sanitary, Water and Storm Infrastructure, Fort Erie receives $4.5-million to replace watermain on Colony Road, Windmill Point Lane, and Staniland Park Road, and St. Catharines will use $3.8-million for the Martindale Pond Weir project.
