Public Health blaming increase of influenza on easing of public health measures.
Niagara Region Public Health says the community is seeing a recent increase in influenza.
In a release, Public Health notes the spike is likely due to the elimination of measures to prevent COVID-19.
Common flu symptoms include fever, coughing, sore throat, chills, headache, runny or stuffy nose, body aches and muscle pains.
Severe cases can lead to breathing problems or pneumonia.
The flu and COVID-19 have many of the same symptoms, and Public Health says anyone with symptoms should self-isolate and follow Public Health guidance.
Residents are being urged to get their flu shot and COVID-19 vaccinations, wear a mask, clean your hands frequently, and stay home if you feel sick.
You're also asked to cough into your elbow, arm/sleeve or a tissue, and clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces often.
