Local MPPs are calling on the Ford government to help open a local booster clinic for education and child care workers.
Three Niagara MPPs are calling on Premier Doug Ford to open a booster shot clinic for education and child care staff in Niagara.
St. Catharines MPP Jennie Stevens, Niagara Centre MPP Jeff Burch and Niagara Falls MPP Wayne Gates, along with Niagara West candidate Dave Augustyn, say it's unacceptable that the nearest education workers clinic is 100 kilometres away.
"People in Niagara have been struggling to find a vaccine appointment amidst the chaos the Ford government created," said Augustyn. "This single clinic for all of Ontario fails to acknowledge the dignity of folks living in Niagara by forcing them to find a way to Mississauga."
Yesterday, the province announced a plan to accelerate booster shots for child care and education workers, but no local clinics have been announced yet.
The NDP is calling on the province to increase access to rapid tests for students and teachers, as well as smaller class sizes, in-school vaccination clinics and mandatory vaccination for all teachers and education staff.
