Over $6 million being invested for new 18-unit housing project
The Niagara Region has announced a new supportive housing project that is coming to Fort Erie.
In partnership with Niagara Regional Housing and Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation, over $6 million is being invested to provide housing for women and children fleeing domestic violence.
The money will be used towards an 18-unit transitional housing project on Crescent Road.
"Today’s announcement helps to ensure that women and children fleeing family violence in Niagara have a safe place to go," says Niagara Regional Chair Jim Bradley. "It is encouraging to see community and government partners working together to bring these essential housing projects to reality."
Niagara currently has about 280 supportive housing units, as well as 15 bridge housing units and 25 permanent supportive housing units.
