Charges have been laid following a violent arrest at a Welland gas station.
Police say a man tried to leave the store in East Main Street and Golden Boulevard East area without paying for a drink Sunday night.
He allegedly pulled a knife when the clerk confronted him and he didn't drop the knife once the NRP arrived on scene.
A struggle ensued during his arrest and he had to be taken to hospital with minor injuries afterwards.
None of the officers were injured.
The 28-year-old man is now facing a list of charges including possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, uttering death threats and theft under $5,000.
