A word of warning to current and former Niagara College students.
guard.me, a company that provides emergency health insurance to international students and employees at the school, was the target of a cybersecurity incident.
The school says as a result, an unauthorized third party was able to access client information such as names, email addresses, and banking information. .
While the school also notes there is no evidence of client information being misused, the company has contacted the Privacy Commissioner of Canada and the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Ontario.
Niagara College is urging all current and former guard.me customers to remain vigilant by reviewing financial statements and accounts for unauthorized activity, and be suspicious of texts, emails or phone calls you may get asking you to provide sensitive information.
