Niagara residents will experience more sweltering temperatures as a heat warning continues through today.
Maximum temperatures are expected to be in the low thirties today with the overnight temperatures in the low twenties.
Humidex values are expected to be in the high thirties to forty range.
The heat event is expected to come to an end early Tuesday.
Hot and humid air can also bring deteriorating air quality and can result in the air quality health index approaching the high risk category.
Heat warnings are issued when very high temperature or humidity conditions are expected to pose an elevated risk of heat illnesses, such as heat stroke or heat exhaustion.
