32-year-old male death directly related to the consumption of an illegally obtained opioid, specifically fentanyl.
Niagara Regional Police have charged a 33 year old Hamilton man with manslaughter in connection to an opioid overdose death in St. Catharines.
In March, police were called to an apartment in the Roehampton Avenue area and discovered a 32-year old man dead.
At the time, police identified what they called criminality in the case and arrested two Hamilton residents, a 33 year old male and a 30 year old female.
The pair were charged with taking a motor vehicle without consent and the male was also hit with a failure to comply with a release order.
Police have now added manslaughter and drug trafficking charges to the list of charges faced by the man.
Both those facing charges are not being identified, as police say it would identify witnesses and comprise the integrity of the investigation through the judicial process.
