Nine farms and businesses in Lincoln and Grimsby will be able to connect to natural gas, thanks to an investment from the province.
The Ontario government is investing over $234 million under Phase 2 of the Natural Gas Expansion Program.
The money will be used to support over 8,700 connections in 43 rural, nothern and Indigenous communities.
Over $4.2 million will be used for the new natural gas connections in Niagara.
Niagara West MPP Sam Oosterhoff says this will help both residents and businesses save money.
"Access to natural gas will help more families and businesses find energy savings, while promoting economic development and job creation across Niagara-West."
It's estimated that switching to natural gas could save the average household $250 to $1,500 a year in energy costs.
Construction for Phase 2 projects will begin as soon as this year, and all 28 expansion projects are expected to be started by the end of 2025.
