Council to hear ideas for three roads, Farr Avenue, Concession Road, and Washington Road
Anticipate some traffic calming measures to slow drivers down on certain roads in Fort Erie.
Council is looking at ideas for Farr Avenue, Concession Road and Washington Road.
Councillor Joan Christensen was in full support of control on Farr Avenue. "I walk by there all the time... it is one of the most dangerous roads for children. It looks safe, until you are actually driving along with children, or dog walkers, on the sidewalk."
However, Mayor Wayne Redekop expressed concern drivers will simply use other nearby roads.
He was also concerned over what he says is a lack of community input, however, Councillor Ann Marie Noyes said Concession Road has come before them often. "Over and over and over and over, I could keep going. I think at one point there was even a petition. In regards to why they're not participating in the survey, it may be because they've been complaining about it for umpteen years, and nothing has been done."
Council agreed for a further report from town staff at next month's meeting.
