Federal government investing $250,000 to bring 50 Level 2 electric vehicle chargers to St. Catharines, Markham and Barrie.
The federal government has announced a $250,000 investment in Alectra Energy Services to install 50 Level 2 electric vehicle chargers across St. Catharines, Barrie and Markham.
The announcement was made earlier today by MP Chris Bittle, on behalf of Natural Resources Minister Jonathan Wilkinson.
Funding will flow through Natural Resources Canada's Zero-Emission Vehicle Infrastructure Program, and all chargers will be available to Ontarians this spring.
Bittle says the move will help the federal government reach its goal of a net-zero emissions future.
"This is how we create the future, where the vehicles we drive don't harm the environment that we cherish."
Since 2015, the federal government has invested $1 billion to make electric vehicles more affordable and chargers more accessible.
