E.coli, algae found
If you plan to go swimming this long weekend, there are a few local beaches you need to avoid.
Niagara Region Public Health has flagged eight beaches as unsafe for swimmers.
E.coli has been found at Nelles Beach in Grimsby, Centennial Cedar Bay Beach in Port Colborne, Sherkston Elco in Port Colborne, Sherkston Quarry Beach in Port Colborne, Sherkston Wyldewood Beach in Port Colborne, Reebs Bay in Wainfleet, and Wainfleet Lake Erie Public Access Beach.
Meanwhile, algae has been found at Waverly Beach in Fort Erie.
During the summer, Niagara Region Public Health frequently tests the water at area beaches, to make sure it's safe for swimmers.
