Construction of new fire station to kickoff next month.
A groundbreaking ceremony was held today for Thorold's new District 1 fire station.
The 16,000 square foot facility will be located on McCleary Drive.
It will feature three large truck bays, living quarters for career staff, a physical fitness area for all firefighters and a large meeting space.
"We are thankful to City Council for demonstrating the leadership they did in moving this initiative forward," says Manoj Dilwaria, chief administrative officer. "In addition to becoming Thorold’s new fire headquarters, this station will also function as our new Emergency Operations Centre."
Construction will begin next month, and is expected to finish by mid 2024.
