David Clow adds this will help the economy

A man who grew up in Welland wants to be mayor because he says it's not safe for children anymore, with drug addiction and homelessness.

David Clow says the city is not what it used to be, adding his 4-door solution will clean up the downtown, making a better economy.  "There's a karate class for young children, that have to navigate the gauntlet of drug addicts just to get to their karate class."

He wants to create an online app, enabling parents to post where drug infested areas are.  "This is going to allow other parents to avoid these spots, and enable the police and by-law enforcement to clear these camps and stop the open use in these corridors first, where our children are going to be."

He wants to bring back law and order, along with his Good Governance Task Force.

He adds addicts ready for help will get it, and anyone still using drugs will have a place on the outskirts of town, and not on Ontario Road.  "But, how can we rejuvenate the downtown when places like Dietrick's men's clothing, a good friend of mine all my life, just had to remove from the market, because it won't sell, because he's surrounded by those addicts."

He also says development charges on construction must be brought back.  "So that's going to fall back on us, and our residential tax.  So, developments are great, but why does that have to fall back as a burden on the taxpayer?"

He adds bringing back accountability will resolve many problems at city hall.

He's competing for mayor against David McLeod, Pat Chiocchio, April Jeffs, Natashia Bergen, Brandon Simon, Graham Speck and Gary Graziani.  We have reached out to all candidates for an interview.
