Claims social media app has been using a computer generated version of her voice
Bev Standing tells the CBC she filed suit in a New York City court in May accusing the Chinese parent company of the social media app of using her voice without her consent
Standing contends a computer generated version of her voice has been used by TikTok since 2020 on its feature that converts text typed into the app into a voice which plays over videos.
She thinks the company got her voice from recordings she did in 2018 for a Chinese government research organization called the Institute of Acoustics.
She tells the news network, since she filed the suit three weeks ago a new voice is now doing the narration on videos.
