In Welland, property owners face almost $73 in increased taxes for next year, for a home valued at $232,000.
This comes after city council passed the 2025 budget, with a tax levy increase of 3.95%, along with city growth assessed at 2.91%.
The city adds there will also be a $111 increase on the water and wastewater bills.
The city says council supported a few extras from the original plan, such as part-time seasonal garbage collector, roads labourer, installation of a drinking fountain at Empire Sportsplex, and supervisor of by-law enforcement.
Budget highlights include $22.9-million for wastewater, $7.8-million for roads, and $4-million for water services, $3.5-million on facilities and $2.2-million for parks.
There's also additional funding for the museum, library and municipal emergency management.
Mayor Frank Campion says they worked hard to support city services while addressing evolving needs.
