Niagara Peninsula Energy challenged customers to switch from paper to electronic bills, and raise money
An impressive fundraiser by Niagara Peninsula Energy to help out the local SPCA.
VP of Communications Sue Forcier says they asked customers to switch from paper to electronic bills, and with that donate $10 for every switch to the SPCA.
She's speechless that $43,870 was raised. "We thought maybe we'd get 1,000 customers, not 4,300, which was great. We were so thankful to our customers for going paperless."
She says they did this from September 1st to the end of 2024.
She adds their employees picked the SPCA. "It's a charity that sometimes people don't have top of mind. Usually it's the food banks and homeless, which are great charities, but sometimes we forget about the animals."
She says many customers expressed their appreciation the utility did this.
