Two Teens Charged in Vandalism Incidents in St. Catharines

Suspects accused of vandalizing Harriet Tubman School.

Two teenagers have been arrested in connection to a series of hate-related vandalism incidents in St. Catharines.

Investigators say around 8:00 a.m. on June 12th, police responded to a report of spray paint damage on a home on George Street near Catherine Street.

Officers continued to investigate the area, finding numerous vehicles and buildings were targeted, including the exterior of Harriet Tubman School.

A statue of Harriet Tubman was also vandalized with paint.

Police say the damage to the school took place on June 11th around 9:55 p.m.

The vandalism included racist and homophobic words and explicit images.

On August 20th, a 14 year old male from St. Catharines was arrested and a 15 year old male from Niagara Falls was charged the following day.

The suspects each face 13 counts of Mischief Under $5,000.

The teens were both released to their parents/guardians, and future court dates have been set.
