The Public Health Agency of Canada has issued a travel warning urging Canadians to be particularly vigilant if attending large parties or mass gatherings.
The health agency has issued a level two travel health notice for several countries, including the UK, Spain and Germany.
Monkeypox can cause symptoms such as fever, headache and muscle aches, and lesions on the skin.
While it can be fatal, most often it is not.
