Update: Glendale Avenue is cleared, traffic moving
It's amazing there were no injuries reported in this morning's multi railcar derailment in St. Catharines.
The train was blocking Glendale Avenue near Keele Street, but traffic eventually began moving again.
The company says a substance used in household plastics spilled from one of the cars, and the cause of the derailment is not known yet.
Reporter Kevin Jack tells us what he saw. "I arrived on scene around 3 hours after the crash happened, and it was just chaos. It reminded me of a Hollywood movie, with tankers just twisted and piled up on top of each other, perpendicular to the tracks. The tracks are bent at 90 degree angles, there's massive axles just scattered about among the debris, with industrial sized springs."
The Transportation Safety Board will be looking into the 13 car crash.
