Funding for project to flow through Green Infrastructure stream of the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program.
The Town of Pelham is getting some funds from the federal government to upgrade the watermain system in Northwest Fonthill.
Through the Green Infrastructure funding stream of the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program, the Town will receive over $2.9 million for the project.
"Although most of the work for this project will be underground and not overly visible, it is a valuable infrastructure investment for Pelham and will continue to allow for reliable access to municipal water services for years to come," say Town of Pelham Mayor, Marvin Junkin.
Pelham is set to start the design phase of its clean water project this summer, with an expected completion date of December 2025.
As part of the project, 2,908 metres of cast iron watermain and 19 fire hydrants in the area will be replaced.
