City councillors noting residential complaints about rats getting into garbage, much of it left by people who don't live in buildings or neighbourhoods
The City of Thorold is trying to deal with rats and other rodents getting into garbage in neighbourhoods.
City staff will look at hiring licenced pest control, which Niagara Falls, Welland, St. Catharines have.
Councillor Henry D'Angela, along with other councillors, alluded to people not being careful enough about garbage disposal, and building owners need to step up.
Councillor Tim O'Hare added this is the top complaint he gets from people.
Councillor Jim Handley called out the region, after noting a resident complaint, saying it needs to do more.
Mayor Terry Ugulini noted the region has helped people, but wasn't aware of this situation.
