This is for the Non-Profit Housing Corporation on Ormand Street, city told employees have tough time finding parking
The City of Thorold will consider a new parking lot for the Non-Profit Housing Corporation on Ormand Street.
Councillor Ken Sentence says it's needed as there's virtually nowhere to park, and personal support workers are having trouble finding a place to park. "And the bonus is that it's a Monday to Friday operation, so when we're having our Canada Day or market or anything else with the city, with the new splash pad going in, that this would also be able to be used."
Council voted to further explore the idea, which includes a cost sharing and lease agreement.
Councillor Henry D'Angela with another idea. "In a temporary time frame, I would work with Club Capri, they have plenty of parking there to help facilitate this until some additional parking is put in place, I'm sure if you work with the Club they'd say to park people there, because usually during the day that parking lot is never full."
Councillor Carmen DeRose says he'd have difficulty supporting this, but did not explain why.
