Budget reflects a 0.19 percent net levy decrease
Thorold City Council has passed the 2023 operating and capital budgets.
The budget reflects a 0.19 percent net levy decrease, which incorporated the 3.75 percent transfer to Niagara Region for transit services.
The cost of the region's amalgamated transit system will show up as a regional levy on tax bills.
"I would like to thank Council and Staff for their dedication during this year’s budget process," says Mayor Terry Ugulini. "The approved 2023 budget focuses on moving key infrastructure projects forward, while continuing to strengthen our levels of service and engagement with the Community. I look forward to Council and Staff working together this year to accomplish our priorities and continue to move the City of Thorold forward."
Projects greenlit in the capital budget include the reconstruction of Broderick Avenue (from Westmount Avenue to West St. N), reconstruction of St. David's Rd (from Collier Rd. N. to Foley Cres.), and design of the South Main Street Eco-Park.
Council also budgeted for the creation of a farmer's market and enhancements to the tree planting program.
